      RescueRATs! Trained giant pouched rats to complement S&R efforts.

      APOPO is a non-profit with a solid track record of training rats to solve humanitarian challenges. Our rats are actively clearing minefields & detecting tuberculosis patients. With their keen sense of smell, trainability, small size, and agility, they may also uniquely aid search and rescue efforts. Provisional RescueRAT training will be presented, with promising early results.

      The State of California''s Fire Integrated Real-time Intelligence System (FIRIS) is a program that provides 2 aircraft staged 24x7 to respond to emerging disasters on initial attack and provide data in real-time from the air. This talk describes the FIRIS Fusion Center process for monitoring, modeling, and integrating data on these incidents, and describes best practices for integration of established and new technologies.

We will explore the applications and opportunities to respond to emergency and everyday situations to assure a safe and resilient water supply though potable rainwater use and greywater recycling using NSF certified processes.
