Safer From Wildfires

Permanent regulations now require insurance companies to give discounts to property owners who have reduced their risk of loss from wildfire by undertaking achievable and effective property and community-level mitigation efforts. Safer from Wildfires framework is an interagency collaboration between the Department of Insurance and the state’s emergency response and readiness agencies.

About Julia Juarez

Julia Juarez leads the California Department of Insurance Community Relations and Outreach Branch. Since then, the Department has met with hundreds of thousands of consumers throughout the state who have been adversely affected by the state’s unprecedented wildfires, floods, earthquakes and the pandemic. With over 20 years of outreach, education, and management experience, she oversees consumer outreach and leads the Department’s expanded efforts to assist wildfire survivors, local governments, small businesses, and consumers in accessing the Department’s many services. Juarez holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Literature & Political Science from Point Loma Nazarene University and Master’s Degree in Leadership and Organizational Studies from Azusa Pacific University.
